There are many use cases in manufacturing engineering where image recognition can be used to identify objects or determine their positioning in space.
In a process of producing cylindrical objects (e.g. elevator buffers), the objects shall be labelled by laser marking.
The marking is intended to have a specific orientation relative to the object. To achieve this, each object must be rotated into a standard orientation before labeling.
The cylindrical objects travel on a conveyor belt through a recognition unit. A camera recognizes the object position using the logo imprinted on the top. The object can then be turned into the correct position while constantly being monitored.
