Manufacturing engineering

Scenario

There are many use cases in manufacturing engineering where image recognition can be used to identify objects or determine their positioning in space.

The task

In a process of producing cylindrical objects (e.g. elevator buffers), the objects shall be labelled by laser marking.
The marking is intended to have a specific orientation relative to the object. To achieve this, each object must be rotated into a standard orientation before labeling.

Our solution

The cylindrical objects travel on a conveyor belt through a recognition unit. A camera recognizes the object position using the logo imprinted on the top. The object can then be turned into the correct position while constantly being monitored.

Practical experience

With the technology used here, it is possible to reliably align about 900 objects per hour. It is not necessary to stop the conveyor belts during processing. The recognition and alignment unit can be integrated into the production line.
